Dairy producer FrieslandCampina ’s 150th anniversary flag is officially raised aloft, marking 1.5 centuries of the group accompanying the world

Dairy producer FrieslandCampina from the Netherlands has celebrated its 150th anniversary of establishment, with a bright journey of over 25 years in the Vietnamese market.

On September 8, the flag commemorating the 150th year of FrieslandCampina was raised at many of the group’s production sites worldwide. FrieslandCampina owns leading dairy brands such as Dutch Lady, Friso, Yomost, and Fristi which are very popular among Vietnamese consumers.

Royal FrieslandCampina is a leading nutrition group in the world with offices in 36 countries and over 24,000 employees. The group’s products are present in more than 100 markets with a total revenue of €11.1 billion ($13.13 billion).

In 2021, Royal FrieslandCampina became the first dairy group in the world to win the top 3 position in the Access To Nutrition Initiative, according to the results announced in July. This initiative evaluates the top 25 largest dairy and food companies in the world and is conducted every two years based on corporate social responsibility programmes aimed at tackling malnutrition, undernutrition, and obesity in different countries.

In order to expand nutrition access to more people, by 2025, FrieslandCampina will set affordable prices for at least 50 per cent of its product portfolio, and 15 per cent of the products sold to make it easier for users to access milk nutrition, especially those with an unstable income. In addition, FrieslandCampina’s nutrition education and communication programmes for the community are customised to the characteristics of each locality across the globe.

The three main focuses of this mission include child-oriented nutrition education and development; improvement of the quality of life of the people, especially partner dairy farmers; and environmental protection and sustainable development.

After many years of nurturing aspirations, from 2020 FrieslandCampina Vietnam has forged a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education and Training to deploy the 5-year “For a rising and superior Vietnam” project with a total investment of VND55 billion ($2.4 million) including activities such as building a standard stadium to enhance physical training, a nutrition corner aimed to provide knowledge about balanced nutrition, and to develop content and implement extra-curricular activities for primary school students to raise awareness and form healthy nutrition habits. In 2020, the programme reached more than 290,000 students of 200 primary schools, and this number will be expanded in the next years.

FrieslandCampina is a pioneer in the Vietnamese dairy industry. With the enthusiasm of Dutch experts, by 2020, the group had more than 2,500 dairy farmers participate in the company’s dairy development programme in Vietnam.
At its factories, FrieslandCampina Vietnam has been working to create an efficient and sustainable production chain through the use of environmentally friendly raw materials, reducing fossil fuels, and reducing CO2 emissions while saving water resources.
